About
The story below tells you how Winter Powell Art came into existence.

How It Started:
Hello, I am Winter, the artist behind Winter Powell Art, LLC. Let me tell you a bit about me and how I became the artist I am today.
I loved drawing and painting as a kid but as I got older it fell to the wayside as a hobby while I focused on my career in science. I made many strides climbing the corporate ladder then my brother, Antonio, passed in 2018 and that hit me like a ton of bricks. Shortly after in 2021 my father passed. These two men meant a lot to me and my way of processing the lost was to go back to a childhood comfort of art. I started doing acrylic paintings but was frustrated with my limited drawing skills so I started taking online classes.

How It Evolved:
One lovely Saturday afternoon a couple years ago I saw my future mentor, Karl Moline, on YouTube selling his art. I love his work especially the horror comics he did Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Fray, and Route 666. We started talking after I started following him on Facebook. One time I had the courage to show my drawings to him and he gave me the advice…”If you are serious about getting good draw everyday the things you see around you and l’ll critique them to help you improve.” I was so shocked a pro offered this for free I jumped on the opportunity. Karl soon learned how determined I am and it evolved into a great friendship and mentorship. He constantly encouraged me and I got to the point I was decent which lead to me wanting to learn more so I enrolled in art school at the Savannah College of Art and Design(SCAD).

Present Day:
Now I am carrying on the knowledge Karl blessed me with and am going to art school at SCAD for BFA in sequential art.
My classes at SCAD has pushed my work by leaps and bounds. Karl’s guidance and combined with my lessons at SCAD my art has reach a new level. This past September Karl passed away which was heartbreaking. I know though he wouldn’t want me to stop drawing and painting so I am still in school pursuing my degree. Also working on my comic that I’m dedicating to my brother. These past few years have had much heartache losing those I love dearest. Drawing and painting though is my happy place. I draw and paint for the joy and love of it and I hope that joy and love can be seen in every piece I do.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story.
